Argan oil: a guide for skin and hair
How to choose and use cosmetic argan oil for face, body, hair and nails.
Nicknamed "Morocco's liquid gold", argan oil is pressed from the kernels of the argan tree's fruit, a tree that grows naturally only in south-western Morocco, around Agadir and Essaouira.
Cosmetic or culinary: choosing well
Cosmetic argan oil is pressed from unroasted kernels. It has a subtle scent and a light golden colour, and is the one to use on skin and hair. Culinary oil comes from roasted kernels, has a strong nutty taste and is meant for cooking.
On the face
Rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, argan oil nourishes and softens the skin. In the evening, warm 2 to 3 drops between your hands and press gently onto clean skin. You can also add a drop to your day cream.
On the body
After showering, on still-damp skin, massage a few drops onto dry areas: elbows, knees, heels. For a quicker routine, our argan oil body lotions offer a light, fast-absorbing texture.
On the hair
- On the ends: one drop on dry lengths for shine and softness.
- As an oil bath: apply to the lengths, leave for 30 minutes or overnight, then shampoo.
- On dry or damaged hair: an argan oil serum helps tame frizz every day.
On the nails
Massage a drop into your cuticles every evening to nourish and soften them.
Our tips
Store your oil away from light and heat. As with any cosmetic, do a patch test on the inside of your elbow before first use.
